News: EA releases Rock Band for iPhone, iPod touch
iLounge | All Things iPod, iPhone, iTunes and beyond —
image Electronic Arts has released its Rock Band music game for the iPhone and iPod touch. Like the console version of the game, Rock Band for iPhone and iPod touch has players attempting to time up taps on a set of four virtual picks or drum pads to a cascade of corresponding notes that fall vertically down the screen, or sing along to notes that travel horizontally from right to left, depending on whether the player chooses guitar, bass, drums, or vocals. A four-player Bluetooth multiplayer mode lets players enjoy a “full band” experience; other features include three difficulty levels, twenty included tracks with more available from the in-app Music Store, a ...

... Your other consideration is that the base game is 158MB already, and each song comes somewhere between 10-20MB each. If you have a smaller device, you might have to delete some stuff to fit this. It would be nice if buying a song also added an iTunes version of the song to your library, but that's pretty unlikely. And although the game ships with 20 songs, only 15 are available at the start, and you'll have to unlock the other five. [iTunes] ...

iLounge | All Things iPod, iPhone, iTunes and beyond —
Welcome to this week’s first gaming edition of iPhone Gems. This has been a big week for new game releases, so we’ve split our Gems column into two pieces: this one focuses on two big new music games and a puzzler, while the other looks at new sports titles. Though none of the games below received a B+ or higher rating, we do review Rock Band, Tap Tap Revenge 3, and BombLink below. Read on for all the details. Better known for its Resident Evil and game show titles on the iPhone and iPod touch than anything else, Capcom ...
Review: Rock Band for iPhone Looks Nice, Plays Rough
Gadget Lab —
It was inevitable: The phenomenally popular rhythm game Rock Band has jammed into the phenomenally popular iPhone. Indeed, the mobile version shows loyalty to the console title, delivering elegant graphics, flashy animations and, of course, a store to purchase more tunes. But the iPhone game is loyal to a fault, because the Rock Band experience just doesn’t translate very well onto the handset’s touchscreen interface. Plus, it’s too expensive.
Rock Band for iPhone retains the elegant game interface in which colorful “notes” scroll down a screen, requiring you to match them once they reach the ...
Rock Band for iPhone doesn't exactly rock
iPhone Atlas —
... Rock Band. For iPhone and iPod Touch. Right now in the App Store for $9.99.
Just thought I'd cut right to the crucial information, as hardcore fans of the console mega-hit probably don't need to hear anything more. "Rock Band? iPhone? Ten bucks? Sweet!"
Everyone else should listen up before plunking down that sawbuck. EA's official, real-deal port brings the jamfest to the iPhone in style, with gorgeous visuals, great songs, and some solid multiplayer action.
Unfortunately, compromises abound. The songs are great, but you get only 20 of them (and ...

iPhone Rock Band Debut Hits Sour Note for Some
iPhone Savior —
Electronic Arts, who currently has thirty three applications in the iTunes App Store, debuted their version of Rock Band ($9.99) today for anxious thumb-thrusting iPhone micro gamers. Although Rock Band has proved to be one of the most successful console video game franchises in recent years, iPhone users are sounding off with wildly mixed reviews. Some are not too impressed.
App Store reviews of the game are peppered with the obviously fabricated five star "Best iPhone Game Ever" brain farts. While other reviewers are focused on the expensive $10 price tag for only ten tracks, laggy game ...
Rock Band out for $9.99 on the iPhone... but fails to thrill
The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW) —
Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, Gaming, Software, iPhone, App Store, iPod touch, MusicThe good news is that EA has released Rock Band for the iPhone and iPod touch, and you can pick it up from the App Store right now. The bad news is that it seems like a pretty tough sell -- despite the relatively high price tag (Tap Tap Revenge 3, a similar music game, is currently 99 cents and headed for free), there's not much new here.
Sure, there is four-device Bluetooth multiplayer, and that's something that Tapulous' game has never had. But other than that, it seems ...

Joe Bowers has created a machine with no purpose other than mastering Rock Band and putting us humans to shame doing so. It consists of a robotic "hand" that can detect changes in light, and it can play the games highest level of difficulty without the help of us fleshy types.

The Price Is Wrong: 13 Overpriced iPhone Apps
Wired: Gadget Lab —
We love apps on the iPhone. Lurve them. They are capable of keeping track of your budget, translating foreign languages and even delivering ample doses of cow bell. But we can’t give every app out there a ringing endorsement. There are more than a few stinkers that don’t work as promised, are endlessly confusing or are horrifically expensive. The latter group is what we’ve got in our crosshairs today.
These are the top 10 overpriced iPhone apps we’ve encountered. While some are fairly useful (Wolfram Alpha, we’re looking at you) others make about as much sense as a Faberge hackey sack. (A special thanks to ...
Video App Review: BomberDove
Buy Me An iPhone.com: News & Video Reviews of iPhone Accessories & Apps —
Rating: 5.5 out of 10
Pros: Fun & addicting. Only 99 cents. 3 modes of play with the ability to enable OpenFeint.
Cons: The touch sensitivity is a bit off, especially in timed or endless mode. Trying to shoot the doves can be a bit frustrating as the aim isn’t accurate. The game sounds also isn’t the greatest but with the ability to to listen to your iPod while playing I’m sure we can look past it. ...
