Nippon is (rightfully) known as the country of politeness. In order to uphold that status through scientific means, Japanese tech powerhouse Omron has developed the Smile Scan [JP].
The device, which consists of a small analogue video camera, a sensor unit and a piece of software, is only available in Japan at this point. Omron says it’s the perfect solution for employers to let staff train how to smile properly. The two variants on sale are the Basic and the Trainer Pack. The Basic Pack consists of a camera and the hardware that processes the smile whereas the trainer pack includes additional training software to get that fake perfect smile.
