... Compare to its original $99 fireWire version, the updated speakers now featuring a more widely used USB 2.0 interface, driverless for PC system and $40 cheaper. On the other hands, the lower power output USB interface results in a 1-2W minimum power output as oppose to the original 4-8w output. DAC has signal processing has dropped from 24 bits/96khz to 16 bits/48khz.
The Lacie USB Speakers will be available in September.

In addition, this speaker doesn’t require any driver to make it work, and you can even attach an MP3 player onto it using an optional power adapter. Its cables can be discreetly and conveniently tucked under the speakers for that neat and clean look.
