... can see from the images I’ve pasted below, the phone will be a simple candybar, but should have removable ‘lego’ style pieces to customize the look of the device.
I played with my fair share of ‘Legos’ back in the day, and I’m sure there will be a lot of folks (and kids) out there that will want to get their hands on this one. Now, if only there was a matching bluetooth headset!?

So, is this the beginning of cellular phones targeted at audiences that shouldn’t have cellular phones? If nothing else, you can use the Lego phones on your Lego projects, like sticking a Lego cell phone on your cool spaceship models.
Well, since these are leaked photos, there is no word on when it will be released. There is word of a price, but it is low for $20-60.

Alcatel Lego Mobile Phone
Mobilewhack.com —
... is the result of a partnership between Digital Blue, Alcatel, and the brick king itself. The Lego phone will consist of a base structure containing the body and display of the handset. A series of modular attachments can be snapped on - likely just for color variation as opposed to changing the functionality of the handset to some extent. These functional toys would appear as though they had been built from Lego bricks and would all fall into an affordable $20 - $60 price range. ( Source ) Boy Genius Report Tags: ...

... the whole point of LEGOs LEGO bricks, which is that you can take them apart and put them back together differently.
One of the features of the phone (which is otherwise fairly blah) is a basic white body, with modular LEGOy plates that can be snapped on to change the color scheme. So yes, it’s just a geeky version of interchangeable faceplates… But that’s what makes it awesome, right?

Lego has decided to join hands with Alcatel to launch a new phone which will be available as a base unit with different parts snapping together to make a unique phone for the kids. Although many parents will frown at handing over phones to their kids, even if they look like toys. It's unclear if the phones have a camera in it, but at a price range of $20 - $60 we doubt a camera will be on the cards. [image] alcatel-lego-phone-2.jpg [ Boygeniusreport ]
Alcatel and Lego have a Lego Phone in the making?

... and as you can tell by the image it resembles a mobile phone constructed out of Lego bricks.
By the looks of it this Lego Phone has a basic structure of a traditional mobile phone while allowing the snapping on of Lego type modular attachments such as buttons and the like and no doubt will come in a variety of colours.
Not much else known at this stage of the game, but seems like a cool idea to me, and as soon as we hear more we’ll let you know.

... digital cameras. And now, it looks like they’re designing a really cool Lego Cellphone with wireless carrier Alcatel.
The basic design looks very Nokia like with multi colored snap attachments that can change the colors. And, of course, there’s the iconic nibs that make Legos so fun to build with. No word yet on pricing, features or availability. But the Lego obsessed (like my 9 year old) will surely dig em when they come out sometime in the near future.

... Blue) seems to borrow a lot from the Lego philosophy. IN fact, it seems to be a modular design with attachments that can be removed and replaced at will. These attachments will likely only provide a color swap, switching a blue keypad for a green one for instance, but that could still be pretty fun. I don’t know whether the Lego Phone will be marketed at corporations or kids, but we’ll keep you in the loop if anything comes of this development.
