LG announces solar-powered handset
Krunker —
... their own eco-friendly handset with a built-in solar panel battery cover. 10 minutes of solar exposure will provide roughly 3 minutes of talk time. Of course if you leave the handset out in the sun long enough, you’ll never have to recharge the phone again (sounds like a great device for Southern California residents!). No word on other specs or prices but the new eco-friendly phone is due to come out in Europe by the end of the year.

... unknown.
Besides cellphones, LG has also other green initiative such as they’ve produced their solar-powered Bluetooth HFB-500 car kit, which was unveiled at CES 2009. The device needs only sun juice to allow users to talk on the phone with the hands free and kept on the wheel. LG has also made some eco-friendly packing for their mobile phone products such as packaging made from recycled paper and cardboard without laminate coating, and printed with soy inks etc.

... shuts off automatically), a big call answer button, and some volume buttons. That’s it. I’ve had it up on the windshield of my car since January, and I’ve never had to charge it, it’s just always there and ready to go. The LG HFB-500 costs $70 or $80 depending on where you look, which is maybe a little steep, but having gadgets that are ever present and functional without any plugs or maintenance whatsoever is worth a little extra money, I’d say.

... didn’t hog all the limelight with their Blue Earth phone.
Unfortunately LG haven’t even named their solar handset as yet, probably needs endless amounts of consultants and high powered meeting to concoct a suitable name.
All we do know about this LG solar concept mobile handset that is it can apparently drag three minutes of power from a charge of ten minutes in the sunshine. No idea when we are actually likely to see it hit the streets though.
