Teac LP-R500: The 20th century CD-LP-cassette geek re-education box
DVICE Atom Feed —
... to Blu-ray technology, many old school gadget purists refuse to let go of the past. For that crowd of old schoolers Japan's Teac has released the LP-R500, a device that plays old vinyl records, cassette tapes, and plays and records CDs. In addition to having the ability to record your old vinyl and cassettes to CD, the device also houses an FM radio, making the all-in-one box a relative (albeit ancient) bargain at around 69,000 yen ($700) here.

Teac goes retro with the LP-R500 audio system

... an FM radio, which only adds to the antiquated feel. So can anything save it? Well, yes - there's a CD recorder built into the front. Which means you can pump out your silver discs through the substantial built-in speakers or you can back up your old tapes and vinyl straight to CD. Suddenly we like it, although not enough to pay 445. Yep, that's the equivalent asking price in Japan. If Teac could knock it down to 250 for a UK launch, we could be talking business. Teac's LP-R500 CD-Equipped Record Player Fell Through Ugly Timewarp [Ugliness]

... Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. This is Teac's LP-R500. Ugh. Sorry, I'll try pulling myself together: it's a modern version of why grandad used to call a "radiogramme," cramming in an FM radio, a CD player, cassette player and record deck into one sleek ancient, massive, clunky box along with an amp and speakers. Admittedly it does let you record your vinyl and tapes to CD. But... ugh. Yours for an ugly $700. [Akihabaranews via ...
LP-R500 is a nostalgic LP turntable with CD Recorder from Japan

... Japan LP-R500 is retro delight for a modern antique collector. Music freaks too will have their share of fantasies with this one because the LP turntable stuffs a CD recorder, tape player, FM radio and speakers to top it all off. It not only plays standard CDs, but also lets you save all vinyl and CDs. Costing over £550, it is available in Japan – but in all hopes, we wish it somehow reaches our end of the world too; coz not everyday does retro become so fresh.
