BlackBerry Javelin… That’s An Awfully Nice Looking Device

Kevin over at CrackBerry.com got some pretty good marketing slick photos of the BlackBerry Javelin.
The BlackBerry Javelin is supposed to be a replacement of the BlackBerry Curve and, coming in a bit smaller than the Curve, might be the first full QWERTY keyboard bearing BlackBerry that I would choose over a SureType BlackBerry.

BlackBerry Javelin, more details confirmed
Gadgetell —
... to RIM’s current lineup. The new details are calling for the Javelin to feature a 480 x 360 high-res HVGA+ display, 512MHz processor, 256MB onboard flash memory, microSD card slot, 3.2-megapixel camera with auto-focus and a microUSB port for both charging and syncing.
The one big drawback that we can see with the Javelin is the lack of 3G coverage, but it does have both Wi-Fi and GPS which should take some of the sting away.

Leaked Marketing Photos for BlackBerry Javelin Show 512mhz Processor, Lens Inside LCD? [BlackBerry]
Gizmodo —
... down low on the details of the phone. Javelin will contain a 512 MHz processor, 256 MB of onboard flash memory plus a hot-swappable microSD slot, a hi-res 460 x 360 HVGA+ display, Wi-Fi with UMA and GPS, and a 3.2 megapixel camera. What briefly piques my interest though is the promise of "integrated lens/LCD technology." Does that mean a second camera hidden behind the display or is it just more ad speak for "the display is pretty"? The release date still seems to be slated for 2009. [Crackberry] ...

RIM BlackBerry Javelin - BlackBerry Bold styling, EDGE data speeds

... bucks off the asking price, the BlackBerry Javelin will forgo any 3G data in favor or the more widely used EDGE data standard.
As we previously noted, the BlackBerry Javelin seems to be destined for T-Mobile’s network. Without a fully-launched 3G network, T-Mobile is perfectly suited to launch the EDGE-only BlackBerry Javelin for BlackBerry fans looking for BlackBerry Bold-styling and features, without the more expensive 3G data capability.

... the date on the screen caps is May 21st so while these images are new to the internet they may be slightly older than some of the live images seen recently in the wild, but they do make one wonder it the buttons on the BlackBerry Javelin’s keyboard will be green or red on release?
Overall though it looks like the BlackBerry Javelin is going to be a real nice mobile device, just a shame it lacks 3G, but does compensate a little with WiFi and GPS.
