Toshiba announces 256GB SSDs

... to launch their own 2.5-inch 256GB SSD (THNS256GE8BC). As with Samsung, Toshiba’s SSDs are also Multi-level Cell (MLC) technology based and support SATA II interface. However, being developed with the same technology, SSDs from Toshiba have a read/write speed of 120/70 Mbps which is slower than Samsung SSDs which clocks at 200/160 Mbps.
Interested manufacturers can obtain the samples now as mass production is expected to begin from the upcoming quarter.
