PSP 2 RUMOUR: Dates and details on the "PSP Go!"
Tech Digest —
... Whether it's of the 800x480 pixel touch variety is another matter. There'll be just the one analogue joystick and one d-pad, no UMD disc drive but it will come in two iterations of 8GB and 16GB built-in flash memory. There'll be 100 classic titles available for download at launch, including Gran Turismo, and, fingers crossed, it should be something special to fight off the DSi at one end and the iPhone 3G at the other. Good luck Sony. Don't think I've ever said that before? (via 1UP) ...
Don’t call it PSP2 or PSP-4000, its PSP Go!
Tech Ticker —
... Go!, if Sony outs a PSP2 or PSP-4000 that will be a step ahead in graphics and hardware with its roots stuck to PSP-1000 (UMD, no internal memory et all), they would have two handheld consoles in the market, targeting two different users – one who seeks DS like functionalities and wants fun over pure gaming can go for PSP Go! while a hardcore gamer can go for PSP2.
PS: Of course, this is totally based on assumption but the idea is pretty much plausible.

Japan will be getting their new PSPs in September, while the US release is set for late October/early November. The PSP has had some time to build up a good reputation, and the depth of the rumors swirling around it is a good sign for Sony's sales department. More on the PSP2…
IntoMobile - Cell Phone News, Information, and Analysis —
... Specs-wise, it will apparently have the slide-out screen, possible touch-sensitive, one analogue joystick and a D-pad, no UMD, and be in two memory iterations - suspects are 8GB and 16GB. Of course, I’d expect all PSP classic titles to be ready at launch, and probably some new ones too. However the one thing that isn’t clear is what killer-apps or USPs it is bringing to the table to try and battle the DSi and iPhone 3G… time will tell I guess…
