Sony Announces PSP 3000: More of the Same
Wired: Gadget Lab — Sony has announced the semi-successor to the Playstation Portable, the PSP 3000, which will go on sale in Europe on October 15th for €200. The current PSP will remain on sale. So what's new? Not much. The screen has been improved, and features an anti-reflective coating, higher contrast and a wider color gamut. This should translate into sharper, brighter and more colorful images. There is also a built in microphone to make Skype calls easier, and a tweak to the video-out socket, "which will allow new PSP users to enjoy games on non-progressive TVs." New PSP Debuts
Today @ PC World — ... at the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany yesterday. Dubbed the PSP 3000, the new device will double as a cheaper Internet handset with a built-in microphone for VoIP. Sony has bundled Skype with its PSP firmware for some time and the new mic may negate the need for an additional headset, depending on the quality of the mic. Sony also says the new mic will be compatible for in-game chat.
