Nvidia gearing up for a Q4-end release for Ion 2?
Tech Ticker — ... faster as well as powerful than the current Ion chip. The Ion 2 will be based on a smaller die and pack more than double the shaders what is present currently in Ion. The current Ion chip boasts 16 shaders, which effectively means that the Ion 2 will have a minimum of 32 shaders. Chief among those is a decreased die size, "much faster graphics," and more than twice the shaders of the original Geforce 9400M /MCP79 chipset that the current Ion is based on (which uses 16 shaders). Not many more details than that, unfortunately, but NVIDIA is supposedly looking to launch Ion 2 by the end of this year -- although not before it sells plenty more Ion 1s, of course. NVIDIA releasing Ion 2 at end of 2009

The Ion 2 is said have almost twice the processing performance of the original Ion, with this improvement graphics should be cleared and faster. The Ion 2 is currently in its early stages of development so these are not hard figures at present, either way it is a good thing for the notebook industry.
