Oil-less turkey fryer
Boing Boing Gadgets —
... days, my brothers and I discovered that a keg licked clean, filled with cooking oil and placed over a propane flame would cook a fine bacon-stuffed Thanksgiving turkey. This oil-less turkey fryer takes the same approach, but without the forty gallons of biohazard at the end (we solved the problem by just putingt it next to the toilet until September and made pledges drink it). It's $200 and is capable of cooking up to sixteen pounds of turkey at around 8-10 minutes per pound.

Turky Fryer Uses No Oil, But It Uses No Oil [Kitchentech]

... aspects concern me (what if the oil spilled, what if the turkey threw me into immediate cardiac arrest). Plus, I'm more than a little baffled over what one does with the 100 or so leftover gallons of peanut oil. The Oil-less Turkey Fryer solves all of these issues, cooking with propane while blasting the turkey with infrared to make a crispy, succulent 16-pound bird at 8 to 10 minutes a pound. Of course, there is one catch to this $199 oil-less fryer...it doesn't technically fry. [Frontgate via ...

'Oil-Less' Turkey Fryer Defies Laws of Physics
Wired: Gadget Lab —
The “Oil-Less Turkey Fryer” is a device which looks just like a normal turkey frier, but, as the name suggests, cooks it without oil. This can only be described as a lie. To fry, you need oil. That is the meaning of the word fry.
Misleading semantics aside, how does the “fryer” shape up against a real deep-fryer, or even a standard oven? Not very well. My copy of the Larousse Gastronomique recommends cooking the bird for 25 minutes per pound in a 325º F oven. The Perfect Turkey website tells us that in a 425º F oven, an unstuffed 14lb turkey will cook in 112 minutes, or around 8 minutes per pound. The Oil-Less Turkey Fryer claims 8-10 minutes per pound, or ...
