According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, “There have been 19 reports of the batteries overheating, including 17 reports of flames/fire (10 resulting in minor property damage). Two consumers experienced minor burns.”

It seems Sony has been cursed with the never ending battery woes. A new voluntary recall of around 100,000 Sony manufactured batteries has been issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission after a few reported incidents, some including burns to the users. Out of the total number, about 35,000 batteries were sold with laptops in US from HP, Toshiba and Dell whereas the remaining units were sold worldwide as separate battery packs.
