I recall picking up my PS2 on launch day back in 2000 and I sure played the hell out of that thing. I must have played Ridge Racer and Madden for hours on end, but it wasn’t by choice. Heh. There weren’t too many titles that interested me at launch, but I played the heck out of Sunny Garcia Surfing and SoCom. I hope it still works.

sony_slim_ps2_1 Just a quick update here. Yesterday, we posted about a rumor concerning the Playstation 2 and a very slick $99 price point. Turns out the rumor is indeed true and the better news is that you won’t have to wait until April 5th to pick one up. According to the official Playstation blog, the system will be available tomorrow for $99.99 across the continent. Rejoice and play plenty of Devil May Cry ! Link

The long service Playstation2 console will now be sold just under $100 in US from April 1, which is tomorrow. It is rather a smart move for an aging console that has been filling Sony’s cash pots since 2000. A $100 bill won’t hurt a gamer who is dabbling console gaming for the first time.
The European PS2 price has also been slashed at EUR99 (except UK).
