Computer companies are already looking to make their products more recyclable, but designer Je Sung Park is taking the idea of a recyclable computer about as far as it can go. His Recyclable Paper Laptop is made from pulp and reprocessed materials, and when you are done with it, it would be broken down into the same.
One day we may just see something like this in use.

Using paper as the case also allows for endless customization options, however there is still the electronics and screen to dispose of which can contain harmful chemicals. Which hasn’t really been covered in the designers explanation. Let hope maybe in the future even the electronics will be made from easily recycled materials.

... claims to be completely recyclable, the designer is referring to the outer casing only as there would still need to be a motherboard, LCD screen and battery inside to get the thing running along with all the necessary wiring, however, it is a step forwards in that it would cut some waste down. As for now, I’d like to see what a paper laptop actually works like as in, how durable is it and can it handle the day to day knocks and scrapes of life.

Only time will tell if the idea would catch on or the price point would be cheap enough to make it feasible. But there’s already $10 laptops being developed in India, and it’s conceivable that said computer can be built almost like a newspaper is printed, so chances are, this could be a winner.
