Sony Ericsson will also provide a series of premium apps for users of its handsets. It aims to help streamline the process submission process for mobile developers so they can get their software to customers more easily.
PlayNow Arena already exists as a portal for music, games, themes and movies. The addition of apps will draw Sony Ericsson in line with Apple, Nokia and BlackBerry, who have already launched similar services.
