“Premium” apps store coming to iPhone

Rumor has it that a “Premium” version of the App Store will appear next week featuring more expensive and presumably better apps. This will allow more valuable apps to escape the 99 cent/free ghetto.
Presumably we’re also talking about apps from well-known developers as well, which will encourage the creation of iPhone apps by EA and the like. Here’s hoping.

A Wired.com reviveu ontem um rumor do final de janeiro e abre de novo a hipótese de a Apple lançar uma seção “premium” na iPhone App Store dedicada a aplicativos — e principalmente jogos de empresas como Activision, Electronic Arts e Gameloft — que custem US$20 ou mais.
A ideia é dar espaço de destaque e promoção para títulos mais complexos/sofisticados, hoje prejudicados pela inundação de apps baratos que visam sucesso através de vendas em quantidade. A novidade também poderá crucial ...

That change would make the App Store more friendly to game publishers, as well as enterprise software companies such as SAP that would otherwise prefer to focus on the more business-user targeted BlackBerry phones. BlackBerry is expected to launch its own app store, called the BlackBerry App World, later this month.
It would be great to see some apps that are more handy and more detailed. Lets see what tomorrow brings.
