Lenovo's IdeaPad S10 netbook ready to order, maybe
Engadget —

Just days after FCC approval, the IdeaPad S10 netbook just popped on Lenovo's retail site tossing a big Chinese wrench in ASUS' plans for global Eee PC domination. At least we think so -- the S10 wasn't expected to hit the US until October (China September 5th). Availability says "ships within 2-3 weeks" but clicking on the "customize and buy" link results in an "Exception Occurred" error -- pretty much on par with Lenovo's US ...
While you can pre-order the Lenovo S10, I can't
jkOnTheRun —
As I catch up on a week's worth of RSS feeds, I see from Liliputing that the Lenovo Ideapad S10 order page is up and running. I just hit it up and see that you can pre-order a red, white or blue black unit starting at $429 for black and an other $10 for red or white. All of these are XP units, which explains the additional cost: the original press release indicated pricing at $399 and up, so clearly that cost was for a Linux unit.
I know that many folks are placing orders now that the netbook has seen the light of day with LAPTOP Magazine's hands-on and the Notebooks.com video. As much as I would like to get my hands on the S10, I'm going to pass. I can already tell you that I'll likely pass on the Dell netbook that's expected ...
Lenovo drops IdeaPad S10 pricing across the board
Engadget —
A mere two days after launching a large capacity version of its multi-hued IdeaPad S10 netbook, Lenovo's gone and chopped prices through and through, with specialty-color netbooks that used to retail for $439 landing at $359, and the boring black or white models retailing for $349, down from $399. Large capacity versions, with their fancy 1GB of RAM and 160GB hard drives go for $399 and $409 now, respectively. That's a savings of $50 or $80 for all you math whizzes out ...
Lenovo follows HP, drops netbook prices by $50
jkOnTheRun —
Does the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 netbook make your short list of portable device contenders? When we looked at the netbook, we liked what we saw: aside from the standard netbook features common to most, it offers a multi-touch trackpad, and the OneKey Rescue System that restores the factory new smell in a jiffy. Lenovo might be playing a game of "follow-the-leader" here because they just dropped pricing for the S10 by $50 across the board. This follows the $40 HP Mini 1000 price cut from earlier in the week, but to be honest, it doesn't matter who did it first. In the end, the consumer wins. Unfortunately, even the $50 savings can't make me overlook the small right-Shift key that's not in the right place. A hundred bucks off might get me to look ...
Lenovo releases IdeaPad S9 netbook
CrunchGear —
Look at that little cat! It’s on the screen of the Lenovo IdeaPad S9, the little bro-ham to the Lenovo IdeaPad S10. The S10 has a 10.2-inch screen and runs Windows, while the S9 has an 8.9-inch screen and runs Linpus Linux Lite.
The S9 is available for $344.99 at Geeks.com or $359.46 at Buy.com. That, or you could just order the S10 with the bigger screen and Windows starting at $349 directly from Lenovo.

What’s the Best Netbook for the Price Right Now?
jkOnTheRun —
Earlier today, I received a note from Mike, a jkOTR reader who recently got his hands on an MSI Wind netbook. Not just any Wind either; it was mine. Mike might have a little netbook fever now and he was asking my opinion on the best netbook for the price; in terms of value. Mike doesn’t have any specific requirements in terms of the hardware. He’s just planning to check e-mail and surf the web when out and about: basic tasks that a netbook is perfect for. He doesn’t even need a high-capacity battery since this is definitely a secondary device for him. Aside from those minimal requirements, he thought he’d occasionally upload photos or post to a blog using Windows Live Writer.
Of course, all I can do is offer an opinion: that and a buck will get you cup of ...
