Sanyo develops 12X Blu-Ray laser capable of recording 100GB

... and also has the capability to record four layers of data which makes the total space to go up to 100GB. This means that the new discs with four layers would be able to store around 8 hours of high definition video at 1080p resolution.
However, selling these 12X drives will not be easy for Sanyo. To enable them to cash in their developed technology, they need an approval from Blu-ray Disc Association so that this technology can be supported by all manufacturers.
