Sony Ericsson Hikaru is rumored to be a touchscreen phone to compete with the iPhone
Newlaunches.com —
... not clear if it will have an alphanumeric or a QWERTY keyboard, or is Sony Ericsson going to compete directly with the Apple iPhone? Sony Ericsson is not just going to bet on the Hikaru, a new phone called the Twiggy is also said to come next year. It will be the successor of W350. The Twiggy will have a 240 x 320 pixels display, a 3 MP camera, and will have two color options. The Hikaru is just a rumor for now, and the Twiggy should be on sale starting the second quarter of 2009. Source

... looks pretty hot. When I first saw it, I thought to myself ‘Hmmm… sort of similar to the Samsung Instinct!’…. don’t you think? Somewhat similar in form-factor for sure.
I should note however that the image was created by the folks at Unwired Review. The actual device will probably look somewhat similar to this… The folks at UR did a pretty good job on the mockup don’t you think?! Stay tuned for more news on the Hikaru!

... touchscreen display, but still unknown is whether it will feature a full QWERTY slide-out or a numeric keypad.
Still plenty to figure out with this handset, lots of specs are still unknown. It has not even been mentioned where the Hikaru will fit in with the current SE lineup. Will it be a Walkman branded phone? With 8GB of internal storage that sounds likely. Unfortunately, there have not been any leaked images of the Hikaru just yet.

... to the iPhone and other similar devices. It’s distinctly different than the QWERTY-packing Xperia X1, because the Hikaru (which will likely carry a different model name at launch) is a touchscreen-only handset. Or at least that’s how it sounds. Rumored specs include an 8 megapixel camera and 8GB of internal memory. The picture here is just a mockup, so there’s no saying exactly how the Hikaru will look when and if it launches. Touchscreen Phone Challenger: Sony Ericsson Hikaru Source: unwiredview.com ...
