CES Wrap up- where oh where was Android?

... were definitely the big item as CES this year but we expected that. Almost everybody makes one and the rest plan to make their own. The little notebooks were everywhere and due to the low prices of them they are not going away any time soon. The Sony Vaio P appearance was big news at CES and while not a netbook it is a “tweener” device that piqued a lot of interest at the show. ...

Sony Vaio P now being delivered- unboxing ensues

... to the hands-on treatment at CES. The Vaio P is the most portable notebook with a good keyboard we’ve seen and are fighting the urge to get the credit card out. Jenn at Pocketables couldn’t fight the urge and has not only ordered one of these but has gotten it in her hands. The mandatory unboxing has ensued and Jenn has posted a bunch of ...
Sony Vaio P on Verizon- $200 rebate

... The Sony ( s sne) Vaio P defies description, it’s not really a netbook as it’s too expensive yet it’s equipped much like them. No question the Vaio P brings a lot to the table, and very small tables at that. One of the interesting components that Sony is putting in the Vaio P is the Gobi wireless chipset which is gives it the ability to work with both CDMA and HSDPA 3G data networks. ...
Sony Vaio P with 1.86 GHz Atom now shipping from Dynamism
jkOnTheRun —
... The Sony Vaio P has captured the imagination of quite a few geeks (like me) since it’s unveiling at the CES earlier this year. The small sexy notebook with the awesome keyboard and super high-res screen is easily the smallest notebook that has virtually no compromises for all-day use. ...
Sony Vaio P hacked for HSDPA- scary stuff
jkOnTheRun —
... When the Sony Vaio P started shipping to customers it became clear that the US version of the little notebook wasn’t using its technology fully. Sony has put the Gobi technology into the Vaio P which makes it theoretically capable of working with just about every 3G network in existence but they have only enabled the CDMA stuff to work with Verizon. ...
Mystery Lenovo “pocketbook” gets you centered

... is barely bigger than a little keyboard yet seems to pack in a trackstick and touchscreen. There are no specs or even confirmation that this is a real device, but it looks pretty cool nonetheless. Based on the hinge in the pictures, it looks like the screen folds over the back of the device and uses a stylus so it’s a teeny-tiny Tablet in that regard. Let’s hope this makes it to a real product simply because it’s cool to see Lenovo challenge our expectations as Sony did with the Vaio P. Speaking of Vaio P there may be one appearing in the very near future. ...
This Week at Mobile Tech Manor #31- Spring Break is in the Air

... The folks at Dynamism are sending me a Sony VAIO P to test out briefly. I am excited about this because it is the smallest notebook form that still has a pretty decent keyboard for touch-typing. The VAIO P caught my interest in Vegas this year at the CES where it first appeared and I can’t wait to get my hands on one. This one is the Japanese version that can only be picked up at Dynamism here in the states. That means it has no integrated WWAN, which I wouldn’t use anyway, but more importantly it means it has the faster 1.86 GHz Intel Atom processor. I’ve ...
Refreshed Sony VAIO P Sneaks Into FCC Labs

... When James and I caressed the “I am not a netbook” Sony VAIO P in a video this year at CES, we walked away generally impressed. But since we only had a few minutes to finagle with the device, we obviously couldn’t determine how well it would suit mobile device users’ needs. There’s sure to be some very happy VAIO P owners, but the general consensus is that it’s too overpriced and underpowered for many. James later tried an evaluation unit, and while he enjoyed using it, ...
Would You Pay $300 for a Sony VAIO P Lifestyle PC?
jkOnTheRun —
... This is just a theoretical question for now, but would you pay $300 for a Sony VAIO P netbook, er lifestyle PC? When the VAIO P was unveiled at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show, we were pretty excited to caress the device on camera. But after taking the price-tag into consideration, neither James nor I opted to purchase one. Recently Sony dropped the price by up to $500, but you’ll still find the base model running ...
