Data tethering is a go on Palm Pre
Engadget —
... it turns out that tethering, thankfully, is. Newly-published tech specs on Sprint's site reveal that you'll be able to use your little EV-DO Rev. A monster as a modem both over Bluetooth and USB cable -- something the Pre's arch nemesis cannot so far (at least, not in any official capacity). Whether this helps push AT&T and Apple over the edge remains to be seen, but in the meantime, we'll be pushing close to a megapit per second upstream, thank you very much. A connection to your laptop or desktop. You’ll be able to share that connection via Bluetooth or USB cable. You get to choose. ... WebOS isn’t that small. The product page indicates that the 8GB phone will only have 7.4GB available to the user. I’m sure that not all of the 600MB is the operating system, but I’m curious how big software updates are going to be. Perhaps Palm will follow in Nokia’s footsteps and one-up Apple by implementing incremental over-the-air updates. If Nokia can manage it with the N80x Internet Tablets and some N-series devices, I think Palm can make it happen. That would give more meaning to the name “WebOS” too. ...

The Palm Pre will no doubt be released soon, but one wonders if the Palm Pre will eventually be released with a more colourful variation rather than the usual same-old-same black.
