JonPhillips So, so, SOOOOOO cool.
Drivable Star Wars Landspeeder Will Not Take You To Mos Eisley, Still Kicks Ass [Star Wars]
Gizmodo —
... detail is also pretty amazing (and reeks of authenticity), with body work and fake damage consistent with the landspeeder in the film. And it shouldn't be huge shock that Deutsch has no intention of selling his magnum opus. But when I see this thing, I have delusions of rounding up Han, Obi-Wan, Lando and a whole lotta Colt 45, cruising past the Cantina, and looking for chicks with tentacles on their heads. Hmmm...that sounded a lot cooler in my head. [Skywalker Landspeeder via Neatorama]

... with a custom aluminum chassis. It travels a maximum of 25 MPH and can putter around in a Segway-like sphere of influence: a few miles on a single charge. Perfect for running down womp rats, but the X-34 Landspeeder is the perfect open top for the predictably dry Tatooine summers. Without a roll-up canvas top, Daniel's sweet ride will be filled with stagnant water and slimy leaves within the autumn: a portable, hovering Frop Bog.

Guy Builds Star Wars Land Speeder Replica
The UberReview —
... thing actually drives, though unfortunately it doesn’t levitate and can manage a top speed of 25 mph from its electric drive system. It has some other cool features too including an audio system which features over 52 R2D2 sounds, smoke machines and a projector. I think it can safely be stated that Daniel Deutsch takes the title of king of the Star Wars geeks.
The only way that anyone is going to top this is if they build a real Land Speeder. [Daniel Deutsch via Neatorama, Geek Alerts]

... Deutsch, who built the replica, used fiberglass to build the body and the body mold and windshield were produced in California. He and the guys worked on doing the bodywork, chassis and electronics themselves. The coolest feature might be the lighting effects in the engine pods which change just as the sound would, during acceleration. Star Wars definitely is inspiring these new generation designers to create many interesting designs and products.
