... keep surprising us with their impressive creativity, for they just cannot help their passion to lace their doodads with a steampunk theme. This dude here has designed a charger for his iPod based on a Jensen #75 engine. The Lego influence also shows as the technic motor used hails from the same background. A 5-volt regulator and a female USB connector make sure that the iPod gets its due dosage of energy when required. A .5-amp fuse is used to ensure circuit protection.

The iPod does have a decent battery life but just incase need some extra juice perhaps this tiny steam engine could give that extra push. This steam powered iPod charger is a rigged out Lego steam engine with a USB connector to power up your iPod or any other device. The only hurdle I see is the amount of noise it generates to power your devices, nevertheless you can be sure your music player is charged come what may and all for a few mugs of water. ... it in action. Unfortunately you can’t see the charge light on the ipod, But as you can hear, the iPod really loads the engine. I was somewhat surprise it could hack it.
Seeing these things makes me realize just what a disadvantage I’ll be at in the future. I can barely make a lean-to for shelter, let alone create power for sundry electronics. All I ask is that you guys give me a decent burial. I don’t want to come back as a zombie.

... fuse to create enough power to charge any USB device. Stoke it with a few pellets and add water, and your Steampunk Eye-Pod Victrola is going round and round again.
For those of you who are electrically inclined, this might not be too difficult to create. For the rest of us, we'll sit back in awe, marveling over the juxtaposition of past, present and perhaps future, occasionally blowing the engine's whistle as it replenishes our electro-gadgets. Priceless.

Steam Powered Charger Is Perfect For Travel
OhGizmo! —
... there’s a little Lego console there with a minifig to monitor the power output.
So, why is it perfect for travel? Easy: all it requires to produce electricity is water, fire, and fuel. Unlike solar power, it works at night and in the rain, and unlike other generators where you have to DO something, you don’t have to get off your ass. Just find yourself a lake, some wood, and a flamethrower, and you’re good to go.
