Steve Jobs goes on medical leave, Apple fans cry
Gadgetell —
... I have decided to take a medical leave of absence until the end of June.
I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for Apple’s day to day operations, and I know he and the rest of the executive management team will do a great job. As CEO, I plan to remain involved in major strategic decisions while I am out. Our board of directors fully supports this plan.
I look forward to seeing all of you this summer.

Steve Jobs steps down... for a bit
Tech Digest —
... June. Tim Cook will be taking on Apple's day-to-day running in the meantime. I'm on the fence about this one. On the one hand, it's ridiculous to think that Apple's fortunes are the sole result of one man, and his absence will tumble the company into ruin. On the other hand, though, Jobs rules the company with an iron fist, and his absence will leave a big hole in the company's management. It's going to be an interesting six months, that's for sure.
