Leaked PS3 Slim Spy Shots

... These are supposedly the first leaked spy shots of the PS3 Slim, showing a new 120GB model with 2 USB ports and a slot-loading Blu-ray disc drive. No other details have been released, but we'll keep you guys posted. Click here for first picture in gallery.
These photos don't just show a hardware configuration, but a hardware rebranding: The logo has changed from PLAYSTATION 3 to the shorter PS3 branding.

Sony PS3 Slim leaked photos look pretty fake

However both box and console in these photos are branded as PS3, which suggests either a significant change in Sony’s direction or a pratfall by the copycats. Hmm… new, slim PS3? These photos—blurry and grainy, naturally—popped up on a Chinese message board, and allegedly show the upcoming slimmed down PS3. (Sony has denied that it has any plans to create a PS3 Slim, mind you.)
Kotaku noticed that the changes include a nigh rebranding: the Spiderman font is no longer used, and “PS3” replaces “PLAYSTATION 3.”
I don’t know, it looks pretty cheap to me. In fact, it looks like those flip-tops that mod chip sites used to sell during the PS2 ...

Season yourself silly, because I’d take this one with a serious grain of salt. Pictured here is supposedly a ’slim PS3′. Included is a 120GB hard drive, 2 USB ports and a slot loading Blu-ray player. The casing looks to be manufactured of a cheap matte black plastic and the ‘Playstation’ branding has been replaced with PS3, which all lends itself to skepticism.

Rumor: Thinner Sony PS3 in the works?

... back to the matter at hand – would you really buy the PS3 if it was thinner than it was now? Would this alone cause you to go out and pick one up? Somehow I don’t think so.
However, we do have some good ideas that might help spur on sales:
Lower pricing?
Better content?
Easier development environment?
Then again, with Sony in the red for the year, cutting the price of the PS3 is probably not a good idea for Sony.
