GOS (pronounced gee-oh-es) is a lightweight operating system designed for low-powered computers. The gimmick is that the entire operating system runs in a browser window, and there are no local applications whatsoever.
Why would you want such a thing? Well, with all the fuss about cloud computing, you still need to boot up a "real" operating system like Windows, Linux or OS X just to run a browser. This, of course, takes time. The gOS is nothing but a browser. All your applications are online -- Gmail, Google Docs, Skype and so on. This means that the OS boots in seconds and will shut down just as quickly. It also means you need a persistant Internet connection, something which is ironically lacking in Eee PC ...
