Then again, it's being pretty tight-lipped with most of the juicy docs well hidden in support of Sony's request for confidentiality. We can tell you that the FCC's tests were all focused on the 2.4GHz spectrum for ...

PSP-3001 hits FCC
I4U News — ... appears in the FCC database. The schematics show a PSP that we know today. There is actually nothing new to spot. The FCC filing is disappointing, but it would not make any sense to release a new PSP without anything new. More details on Engadget . Posted on Thu, 14 Aug 2008 01:21:10 CDT | by Luigi Lugmayr ...

Tech Ticker —   Now we weren’t expecting this after looking at the picture filed with FCC. The latest PSP 3000 is sitting in the FCC office sheepishly resembling its predecessor PSP Slim. PSP-3001 on the way
SlashGear — ... since the FCC didn’t test for things like Bluetooth or GPS. From pictures the new PSP-3001 looks exceptionally similar to the current model. Although we’ve heard rumors of a redesign of the device in the works, it looks like we won’t see that redesign with this release. Not a lot of details, but this filing does let us know that a PSP-3001 is in our imminent future. Have any of you been waiting for this one? What updates were you hoping to see? [via Engadget]

psp 3001
NaviGadget — PSP 3001 is so real that it even made it to FCC. As expected there’s no integrated GPS receiver, in fact from the FCC docs we can’t really say there’s any kind of innovation compared to PSP slim. Since there’s no GPS, you’re going to have to rely hardware add-ons or other hacks to get navigation on your PSP like you used to do…via
