Aparte de la velocidad, hay otros puntos que lo convierten en un gran estándar, como un mayor ahorro de energía, algo que hasta el momento parece que el USB 2.0 fallaba bastante.
¿Cuando podremos ver los primeros dispositivos con USB 3.0? Podríamos hablar de finales de la primera mitad del año cuando nos bombardeen con notas sobre nuevos portátiles, discos duros externos, reproductores…

La version définitive 1.0 de la norme USB 3.0 vient d’être officialisée par l’organisation USB IF.
L’USB 3.0 se veut rétro-compatible avec les périphériques acceptant l’USB 2.0, et doit permettre d’atteindre une vitesse théorique de 4800 Gbit/s, soit 600 Mo/s. Pour arriver à une telle vitesse, le cuivre et la fibre optique sont utilisés pour composer la connectique.

... the very tactics they used were in violation of the USB-IF’s policies. Essentially what they did was spoof the hardware ID on the Pre to make it show up as an Apple device. Needless to say, the group denied their claim, as Apple has every right to decide what devices can and cannot connect to iTunes. The real kicker is that now Palm is in hot water for spoofing the hardware ID. Methinks it would have been better to just let this one go, rather than pointing the finger.
