Sony’s Netbook “fits in a pocket”, Might Not Fit Netbook Category
jkOnTheRun —
Actually, Sony has this “P-series” VAIO on their notebook section in the SonyStyle store, so maybe netbook isn’t the right term. Just ask Psion, if you don’t believe me. Eagle-eye reader Jose was browsing Sony’s online storefront and caught the new P hiding unsuccessfully at the front of the VAIO line. Not much to go on, but more than we had before although the picture is a TT-device placeholder. Looks like a 1.33GHz Intel CPU which could mean an Atom (dual core perhaps?), but might also be a variant of Intel’s Core Solo like the Samsung Q1 Ultra Premium UMPC. She’ll come with Windows Vista Home Premium or Home Basic which is ...
Sony P-series "netbook" unveiled, underwhelming
Engadget —
Loose lips sink ships, Sony -- not that you'd care. Apparently the company couldn't stand to wait any longer on that long netbook it had been teasing, so it's gone and leaked it out onto the sonystyle site. Apparently, the oddly shaped P-series device will sport an 8-inch, 1600 x 786 LED display, a 1.33GHz Intel CPU, a hard drive up to 60GB (or a 128GB SSD), and will run Vista Home Premium or ...
Sony Vaio Pocket: The Fancy Mystery Netbook Leaked [Vaio]
Gizmodo —
... filled in as "X' and "NaN", still yet to be determined. It'll come in red, silver-painted plastic (bleh) and black. Teasers and bits of Sony's netbook, long rumored and often denied, have been coming in recent weeks, but this is the first leak from their official website. Also, the name is the same as the already forgotten 2004 Vaio Pocket. The photo is probably a placeholder so we still have more to learn before its coming out party. [Sony Style via Sony Insider, thanks Chris, damn you Sony Style for making me post on ...
Sony Picturebook returns in high-def
Boing Boing Gadgets —
... Sony's returned to the netbook's own roots, producing an old-fashioned subnotebook with the benefit of new technology. The original Picturebooks suffered poor performance and battery life due to the disappointing performance of Transmeta's ultraportable chipsets: Intel's Atom represents the successful execution of that company's late-1990s plans. The clock speed's not usual for an Atom machine, though: the Core Solos in the UX ran at 1.33 GHz.
Let's see that price.

VAIO P Netbook: “It fits in a pocket”, says Sony
SlashGear —
It looks like Sony is really jumping into the Netbook business. All the teasing comes to almost a climax today when the company released specs and a picture of what they’re calling the Sony P or P-series. According to SonyStyle, the P stands for “pocket”. Whether the P fits in my pant pocket or not, I can’t wait to get my hands on a unit; hopefully sooner than later.
As far as specs and features go, the P looks might impressive for a Netbook. It’ll sport a 1.33ghz Intel processor, an 8-inch LED display with resolution of 1600 x 768, a 60GB HDD or 128GB SSD. Battery and pricing are filled in as “NaN” and “X”, so we’ll ...
Sony Vaio Pocket: Details of Sony’s new UMPC leaked
CrunchGear —
The mysterious UMPC Sony has been advertising through a short “mystery campaign” over the last days doesn’t seem as overwhelming as Sony suggested, at least if you look at the the first details of the device that seem to have leaked on Christmas day (Sony took the page off).
The Sony Vaio Pocket features a 1.33GHz Intel processor, a 1600×768 ultra-widescreen 8-inch display, a 60GB hard drive or 128GB SSD and uses Windows Vista as the OS. It wil be available in three different colors: Crimson Red, Champagne Gold, and Black Silk.
As always, information obtained through leaks has to be taken with a grain of salt. The picture Sony shows on ...

... On the outside the X is made of some beautiful metal. On the insides we now know it has a 2GHz Intel ULV processor, a solid state drive and standard Intel graphic. It will also run for 17 hours on a charge. Doubtful when you have the Verizon 3G on, but that is an option also. [Sony] ...
Sony Vaio X: World's Lightest Laptop $1300 (Actually Affordable, For a Vaio) [Sony]
Gizmodo —
... Considering that it's cheaper than the Air or Adam, and that Sony's netbook was $500, that's pretty skimpy pricing. On the outside, the X is made of some beautiful metal. On the insides we now know it has a 2GHz Intel ULV processor, a solid state drive and standard Intel graphic. It will also run for 17 hours on a charge. Doubtful when you have the Verizon 3G on, but that is an option also. [Sony] ...
