... the brightness keys - in fact the only troublesome aspects are the volume keys and mute button.
We’re yet to see benchmarks of the VAIO P’s performance running the older OS, but if the general experience with netbooks and the like is to be repeated, it should whip along a whole lot faster. Of course, this is really just to tide us over until Windows 7 arrives, which should - based on previews - be as frugal as XP but as functional as Vista.

... Vista. Period. Exclamation point. Dell Mini 9 smashed repeatedly into the bridge of Steve Ballmer's nose. And that even goes for the beefy-for-a-netbook-but-don't-call-it-a-netbook Sony Vaio P.
Luckily, the process of downgrading the Vaio P's built-in Vista install is relatively simple, with the only casualties being volume and mute buttons that no longer work. A small price to pay for not running Vista.

One of the more frustrating aspects of Sony’s VAIO P, at least in the US, is the sole 1.33GHz Intel Atom processor choice. It was enough to concern us in our first impressions of the “not-a-netbook” ultraportable and, after benchmarks and real-world testing, enough to mount a ...
