... service starting on September 21st. Unlike their EasyPay plan, pre-payment is not a requirement. Verizon To Go Contract Free On September 21st
GadgetReview —
... ‘contract free’ plans on September 21, 2008. Stipulations require that you either pay for a phone in full - no subsidies - or bring your own equipment. The user must pay an activation fee, no exceptions, and go through a credit check.

Although this is still unconfirmed at this point, it does make you think. Assuming you were not a current Verizon Wireless subscriber, would a move like this be enough to convince you to make the switch? Of course, it is important to point out that while this sounds new and exciting, other major carriers such as Sprint and AT&T have already been offering contract free service.
