Dreamcast Stuffed Inside an iMac Corpse Offends My Youth [Hacks]
Gizmodo —
... I appreciate what it's trying to do: Bring two cult objects together into a single, self-contained artifact glorifying two of the great tech icons of the late 90s. The old, heavy and powerthirsty CRT has been replaced by an LCD monitor, while the Dreamcast is stowed away in the back, bolted in upside down. The controller ports on the front are seamless enough to make the whole thing work, keeping it from looking like a hackjob that would make it tantamount to desecration. [CGCC via ...
Sega Dreamcast + iMac = iCast
CrunchGear —
In what may qualify as nostalgia overload, an enterprising Canadian has replaced the insides of an old all-in-one iMac with a Sega Dreamcast console. The end result is the iCast.
The process is detailed here on the CGCC forums by user “Logicdustbin,” who says:
“I had a couple G3’s laying around, and for some reason I had a 15″ LCD monitor. As I was cleaning up my workshop, these to things were sitting beside each other, the LCD looked to be about the same size.
So I started taking shit apart. Dropped about 100 ...

... if we had them during a certain period in our lives, we love going back to relive that time. Which is why I just love this Sega Dreamcast and Apple iMac combo.
Both are beloved items, although the Dreamcast was killed before it had a chance to reach a very large audience. But I can imagine that this appeals to tons and tons of people. After all, it offers up a nice, compact gaming experience and also acts as a conversation starter. What else do you need, really?

Apple iMac murdered, reborn as all-in-one DreamCast mod
Engadget —
... This may look like a beloved iMac, but make no mistake, it's just a shell of its former self. CGCC forum member Logicdustbin decided to gut the all-in-one and replace its innards with a Sega Dreamcast and 15-inch LCD monitor. The result? The iCast, a beautiful ...

... and it’s all packaged up like an iMac.
The iCast is a Sega Dreamcast combined with an iMac (with the CRT screen converted to LCD). Plug in the controllers on the front of the machine and you’re good to go for a little Jet Grind Radio or Rez. And look, even the controller matches.
Not impressed yet? You can see the iCast in action for yourself in the video below.

Dreamcast Retrofitted Into iMac
Ubergizmo —
... [logicdustbin]'s icast project consists of this old blue iMac getting its guts ripped out, only to be replaced by those of the long defunct Sega Dreamcast. In addition, the threw in an LCD display to make this a highly portable home console (although you will still need a direct connection to a power outlet if you ever want to take advantage of this. The entire project was very well done, and taking a look at the video might even fool some people into thinking that this is a factory installed model. ...
