Let's hope this $76 chopper works better than most voice-controlled toys. And you full-sized helicopter designers, don't get any ideas. Car companies — you, too. I can just see those cellphone-talking drivers getting their commands mixed up with their conversations.

... Voice control is great when it works. This Voice Controlled Helicopter looks like it functions well but I guess they could have taken 10 takes at making the video where every command was recognized the first time. I can see this being the next big interface for all of the hot new toys in the coming Christmas season. Not sure it would be more fun than a Helicopter with a Shotgun mounted to it but it would be close.

A cool Japanese toy called the Voice Helicopter lets you control an RC chopper with voice commands. It also detects ceilings, so you don't lose control indoors. You'll need to speak a little Japanese, though -- or at least English with a Japanese accent. "Up," for example, is "appu." "Down" is "down." But Engines off is: "to-ma-re." ...

I’m not sure I’d spend over $100 bucks on something like this, but if you’ve always longed for a voice-controlled toy helicopter that understands half-English/half-Japanese, go for it. ...
