The employees will have to pay the same price as the rest of us, though, as well as signing their lives away to AT&T for two years (although there is a 15% discount on the contract for Walmart employees).
Unsurprisingly, $99 isn't the price you're looking for. Both the 8GB and 16GB iPhones will enjoy a whopping $2 reduction, at $197 and $279 respectively. Move along!

A Wal-Mart communiqué is showing that the iPhone3G will sell for $197/$297 and not $99 hoped by some despite Amy Poehler’s crack reporting. (video after the break) The 8GB and 16GB versions, with their $2 discount, will go on sale December 28, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. Will there be a line of soccer moms and dead beat dads waiting to get their dirty hands on the Wal-Mart iPhone? If so, we better get some sweet pics.

... the 8GB version will cost $197 and the 16GB version will cost $297. These prices are based on a two-year AT&T contract, Walmart are all set to launch an internal program today.
A number of stores have been asked to join in with the pilot program, where the stores will have just 5 handsets, which they must sell during the pilot period. No employee is allowed to talk about the pilot program, so the person who scanned a copy of the letter had better watch their back.

There has been a lot of rumors swirling around about the iPhone an Wal Mart. There was the $99 rumor and more. Well, it’s now sort of official and the pricing rumors have been debunked. The $99 rumor didn’t make sense anyway, Wal Mart prices normally end in 7. Anyhow, so much for the NDA Wal Mart signed with Apple, huh?

... guys over at Engadget have posted a letter which they believe is valid and from a source within Wal-Mart which seems to confirm Wal-Mart will indeed be selling the Apple iPhone as of 9am on the 28th of December,
But, no mention of any $99.00, rather they are to sell the 8GB iPhone for $197.00 and the 16GB iPhone for $297.00 and both will carry a two year AT&T agreement. So that seems to but the $99.00 Wal-Mart iPhone well in the grave doesn’t it.
