Aluminum Does Not Beat The Plastic MacBook
High Tech Lounge — ... the aluminum unibody, of course, but the RAM is DDR2 on the plastic one, compared to DDR3 on the unibody. Is the $300 savings enough to convince you to consider the last-generation offering? Would you rather spend that $300 on an Xbox, an iPod touch, or some other gadget or would you rather have the latest hotness in the form of the aluminum unibody? Gizmodo — With this $200 mail-in rebate, the white MacBook is almost cheap enough for Lauren, at $799. Yes, it's the new one with Nvidia graphics, so it's a solid deal—an actually cheap(ish) Mac notebook. One thing to note is that you have to rename the mail-in rebate form you download as a PDF—they've given it some weird extension that makes it unreadable at first.
