Gametrack Freedom Brings 'Wiimote' to Xbox 360 this Fall [Peripherals]

... emits sound frequencies measured by these sensors, which creates accurate controller triangulation but probably requires that the sensors be plugged directly into the console itself. (The Wii's sensor bar plugs in to the Wii, but it's really only an IR lamp.) While we're sure the hardware is pretty solid at this point, the Freedom's success will depend on third party developer support and, of course, the small matter of price. But our interest is piqued. Finally, the PS3 and Xbox 360 are getting their own Wiimotes

... defining feature: the Wiimote. But finally, the Xbox 360 and PS3 iare getting their very own motion-sensitive controller-stick-thing.
The Gamtrak Freedom looks a whole lot like the Nintendo Wiimote, but I'm not sure what exactly it'll do without games designed specifically for it. Without a Wii Sports to make everybody want to play it, who's going to use this thing? Perhaps people with Xboxes who really wish they had Wiis, but that's about it. But hey, time will tell.

Anyway, we’ve known about the GameTrak Wiimote-like controller for the Xbox 360 for some time now and we tracked down their booth to test out the controller. It’s an exact clone of the Wiimote, but it worked with the two games that come bundled with the remote. It should be noted that Microsoft did not develop this device. ...
