Maybe Steve, our French-speaking publisher here at Gearfuse could better answer the question, "Why the fuck do French designers always have to do things bass ackwards? Does it make them feel more 'artsy?' Do your berets block your eyesight? Too much wine perhaps?'"

WTFLamp lights up counterintuitively
CrunchGear —
... time to purge your mind of such design prejudices and embrace the weird and impractical; this “WTF, not what I thought” lamp, designed by John Nouanesing, will challenge your notions of what a lighting device should be.
Well, maybe that’s putting it a bit strongly, but it’s a pretty cool little idea. You could probably build your own by just mounting a lampshade on top of a fluorescent bulb, but it wouldn’t be quite as cool.

wtf lamp concept: amusingly blinding
technabob —
... be one of those things that’ll amuse you for a day or two. Afterwards it’ll just be a conversational piece, something to show your date while you figure out what to say - or do - next. Pretty soon you’ll be wondering why you even bought the WTF lamp:
Definitely not because it blinds the hell out of you every time you turn it on. It’s a funny concept nonetheless, something to look at when you’re feeling dumb or uninspired.

The WTF Lamp seems suitably named
Coolest Gadgets —
... PhotoShopped picture with WTF added in by some random person. It’s actually called the WTF lamp. At least the designer realizes it’s pure madness too and has bothered to show a little humor in their own design. The designer, John Nouanesing, hasn’t managed to make this a real product just yet, thankfully. If there’s any hope left for mankind it will stay that way. This world was not created to be covered with lamps that make no sense.

Telephone Company Ripping You Off? Get Revenge With This Lamp [Wtf]
gizmodo.com 28 days ago — Somehow it doesn't seem like landline providers would be happy about people using the tiny bit of electricity coming through phone-jacks to power lamps, but this thing is so kitschy looking that it'd be hard to resist. Plus it's cheeeeeeap. Less ...
