Archos9 Windows 7 Touch Tablet Poked, Prodded, Discussed on Video [Archos]
Gizmodo —
The Archos9 Windows 7 touch tablet has made it through its first round of show floor pageantry, briefly falling into the the expectant hands of the guy(s) from ArchosFans. The mildly romantic encounter was captured on video, for posterity. The most important piece of the Archos9's hardware—its 9-inch resistive touchscreen—works quite well here. (It's on smaller screens where the difference between resistive and capacitive screen starts to stand out, but that's another story.) The rest of the hardware, barring the alarmingly creaky "kickstand," looks solid and attractive, ...

ARCHOS 9pctablet Earns a Starring UMPC Video Role
jkOnTheRun —
Yesterday, ARCHOS decided to resurrect the slate UMPC market with the announcement of their 9pctablet. Essentially, it offers the guts of a netbook running Windows 7 in a resistive touchscreen tablet. Many have tried this type of device, but from a mainstream perspective, these have been relative failures. Bear in mind, I’ve owned three of the devices and they met my needs at the time. To me these UMPCs weren’t failures; I’m speaking of the general consumer market.
Perhaps the time is more “right” for such a device. Hardware has matured to where ...
Video: Archos 9 tablet looks nice, may cost under $500 this fall
CrunchGear —
Ooh la la, here’s video of the Archos 9, straight from a recent Archos event in Paris. The quick and dirty: about three hours battery life, Windows 7, 8.9-inch 1024×600 touchscreen, 80GB hard drive, 1.2 GHz Atom CPU, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi, kickstand, onscreen keyboard, and SIM card slot for HSDPA.
Charbax from ArchosFans.com speculates that it’ll cost under $500 here in the US when it launches in the fall. The European launch price is apparently 450 Euro ($632), but US consumers generally pay less since there’s no VAT here.

Archos 9 8.9-inch Touchscreen Mini PC Unveiled (video)
GadgetReview —
Archos announced a slew of new products yesterday, and one of them, which we failed to cover, was the Archos 9 Internet tablet. It measures just 16mm thin and includes an 80-120GB HDD, Intel ATOM Z515 processor, WiFi, 8.9-inch 1024×600 touchscreen, 2 antennas to receive DVBT TV, webcam, Bluetooth and a 3 hour rechargeable battery. Unfortunately, it runs Windows 7 which will probably prove to be taxing on a device of this size - I’d want a custom UI to do the basics. We’re hearing that it will launch for about €500 ($700 US), but nothing is set in stone at this point. Check the video after the ‘leap’. ...
