BMW Product Navigator, make use of your hands!
Newlaunches.com — Mircosoft's Surface technology has many uses and we can say the coolest way to explore it is at the hands of BMW. Here is a video that shows you how to explore BMW cars with your fingers; "The Ultimate Driving Machine" being optimized with "BMW Product Navigator". The touch screen system lets BMW buyers configure their new car in an interactive way. The exteriors (including the color of the car) to the interiors (according to individual specifications) can be reviewed even before the car is bought. Source ...

BMW First Car Company to Implement Microsoft Surface [Microsoft Surface]
Gizmodo — By allowing its snooty customers to manipulate the snooty Microsoft Surface interface with their snooty fingers, BMW has officially become the first car maker to offer the touchscreen tech to a worldwide car-buying audience. Impressed? Me neither, but that's just because I'm a low-paid writer who's insanely jealous of anyone driving a car that's hotter than my 2006 Mercury Milan. So, basically everyone. As you can see in the video, there's nothing ground-breaking here, save for some fancy cars and interactive swatches for interior and exterior colors (the software ...

Microsoft's Surface surfaces in BMW product navigator
Boing Boing Gadgets — Microsoft's stunning multi-touch display tech makes its real-world debut at German carmaker BMW, which is to use it in fancy in-dealership product configuration. Posting a video to the You Tube on how it works, "Users can grab digital information with their hands and interact with content by touch and gesture," say the narrator. "It's fun," adds Franz Wimmer, Innovation Manager of BMW Group. It's easy to be cynical — the idea of buying a car using a digital four-square is hardly appetizing — but kudos to Microsoft for getting its perennial Today ...

BMW Product Navigator: create your next Bimmer on a Surface
Engadget — It hasn't even been two months since Microsoft loosed its Surface SDK, and already we're seeing new and improved (or is it just one or the other?) uses of the giant multitouch display. In a presumed attempt to keep savvy shoppers off of those message boards and in the dealership, BMW has developed a ...

BMW using Microsoft Surface
Geek In Disguise — I came across this demonstration of Surface being used for car configuration at the BMW Blog. I actually posted this quite a while back from the Vectorform site who are the Microsoft partners they have been working with. I believe that the real power of software is in delivering experiences – ideally more enjoyable and entertaining ones and for a retailer of any type, Surface holds huge potential here. Technology is great but experiences are better.

Microsoft Surface-based BMW Konfigurator
D' Technology Weblog — Developed by VectorForm, the BMW Konfigurator is set up to deliver what the application’s developing company referred to as “pure configuration pleasure.” Based on Microsoft Surface, the BMW Konfigurator makes touch an integral experience of customizing a BMW. There are numerous interaction capabilities built into the application, as the video embedded at the bottom of the article will illustrate. Via Surface, the BMW Konfigurator is capable of recognizing gestures, multi-touch input, and even objects, including car keys, and musters. According to VectorForm, musters are ...

BMW using MS Surface as car configurator
CrunchGear — Now, you could just go down a list and tick the options you want, but that wouldn’t really be posh enough for you, would it? You’re getting a Bimmer, and you want the experience to be luxurious and classy from start to finish. And that’s why they’re employing a ...

Configure your BMW on a Microsoft Surface
Gadgetell — Section: Computers, Software / Applications, Gadgets / Other, Miscellaneous BMW has recently become the first car manufacturer to begin using the Microsoft Surface to allow potential customers to configure their car with the fun of multi-touch.  The BMW Product Navigator will let customers change and configure the exterior and interior colors, rims, and more through the use of color tiles that are placed on top of the Surface table.  The Product Navigator even allows for optional accessories to be added.  Additionally, it has a secondary monitor that lets the customer ...

BMW World’s First Car Company To Offer Microsoft Surface
GadgetReview — BMW is stepping into the future, the future of almost two years ago. The car company plans on implementing Microsoft’s Surface in show rooms, which will allow car buyers the ability to customize their vehicle through the interactive display. I know, I was expecting it to available as on ‘add-on’ product for the car. As you’ll see in the video, they’ve got a palette of color bricks that the shopper can choose from and by tossing one of them onto the Surface it will add it accordingly to the car’s exterior or interior.  It’s hard to tell how dynamic the system is, but ...

Microsoft Surface For Product Navigator at BMW
SolSie.com — An application called the “BMW Product Navigator,” running on the multi-touch table top computer installed at dealerships will let customers configure their car by touching the screen to change features like car color, trim, wheels, seat covering, etc. The app was developed by Vectorform, the same team that brought the Microsoft Surface to MSNBC news, where it became a staple of the U.S. elections coverage.
