I believe that this year we are going to see a shift in the current netbook design to a convertible type of netbook. The reason why I think so is because I see that with the integration of touch support in Vista and W7 more and more companies are releasing devices with Touch screens. We have seen even users that after they have bought a Asus Eee the first hardware hack they do is to add a touch screen. Asus has loaded its netbooks with a custom UI for a few generations now, but the latest feels a bit more evolved. This next-gen UI sits atop the native operating system and can be called into action with just a click of a button. Chances are that the this generation will come on the T91 convertible notebook/tablet where the advanced GUI can really shine. It seems that Asus’s early entrance into this niche market is finally showing as this new Touch UI is extremely polished and might just be the most advance type of interface available. I’m a little late on posting this one, but who really cares, right? Asus is set to release two touchscreen Netbooks (8.9-inch Eee PC T91 and 10-inch Eee PC T101H) that will sport a proprietary UI called 3Doorway. I’m a big fan of the whole touchscreen laptop thing, but I think it probably needs some time before it truly becomes useful. Hit the video below for a complete walk through.

Remember the UMPC hype some years ago? Well, unfortunately it was really just a hype and the few actually existing models did not sell very well. Asus on the other hand managed to introduce a whole new generations of laptops all by itself.
