Guy builds life-size digital pinball machine
CrunchGear —
Wow. While building a digital pinball machine out of a giant LCD and a second, slightly less-giant LCD might cost more than buying an actual machine, the ability to play multiple machines using the Future Pinball simulator effectively turns it into an almost endless supply of fun for any serious pinball fanatic.
A guy over on the HyperSpin/HyperPin forums did just that and uploaded the following video to YouTube for the whole world to see. Looks pretty nice, no?

Enthusiast turns his HDTV into the ultimate digital pinball machine
DVICE Atom Feed —
With the scarcity of arcades here in the US, pinball enthusiasts have had to take matters into their own hands to get their fix. One such enthusiast is BadBoyBill, the admin of the HyperSpin forums, who used an HDTV, an LCD monitor and a 3D pinball simulation program called Future Pinball to build his own 1080p pinball cab. It recreates that classic pinball experience to the T, with the LCD acting as the backglass — and Bill can essentially play any supported pinball game he wants now all in one machine.
Check out some of his high def gameboards below, and check out the video above ...

Video: Life-Sized Pinball Sim Running on HDTV
Wired: Gadget Lab —
Before you click the play button, take a second to consider the idea behind this video. The project consists of a big screen HDTV laid flat on its back with smaller LCD display at the back. The whole shebang is showing a pinball simulation running the Future Pinball engine. In effect, you have a life-sized pinball game.
It sounds great. But wait til you see the video -- it is actually awesome. Awesome, that is, until the maker BadBoyBill gets rather distracted and starts dicking around with both the tables and the video camera. In fact, it kind of reminds us of that guy at ...

HDTV Pinball Machine is Almost as Good as the Real Thing [Pinball]
Gizmodo —
Pinball machines are more or less a lost art, but one enthusiast really wants to bring them along for this whole "21st century" thing. Hence, the HDTV pinball machine. Constructed from one large HDTV and a smaller LCD monitor, this machine, called HyperPin, makes for a surprisingly convincing pinball experience. The trick is in the software, Future Pinball. It's a real-time 3D pinball simulator for the PC, with which enthusiasts can recreate and play on their favorite tables in a simulated arcade. Builder BadBoybill (indeed!) took this all a step further, adapting the app to ...
