Video: iControlPad Caught in Action on the iPhone 3G
IntoMobile - Cell Phone News, Information, and Analysis —
Time for some lazy Saturday videos. Earlier this morning I happened to notice this cool video posted over at Macenstein. It shows the iPhone gamers’ holy grail of accessories, the ‘iControlPad’ in action… Playing Quake 4 on the iPhone. Anyone that plays a lot of games on their iPhone will want one of these (and if they tell you they don’t want one, they’re clearly lying).
There are simply some games where I need physical buttons and tactile feedback. Even if the iControlPad isn’t 100% perfect, I’m sure it would be an improvement in gameplay experience for many games ...

iControlPad Thumbed on Video, Only Works With Homebrew Games [Gamepads]
Gizmodo —
The iControlPad bore many signs of vaporware: desirability, no official authorization and a low budget. We now know that there's at least one working version, and that promises of production aren't, you know, lies. Here we can see the iControlPad wrapped around an iPhone, playing Quake. It works! But a few things stand out. First, there' a discernible lag. This is probably a software issue, as I can't imagine where along this short line of hardware connections that kind of latency could crop up. The developers say they'll have bits of source code ready for developers who want to include controls in their apps, so I hope it's a little more optimized ...
iControlPad In Action On iPhone
Ubergizmo —
ZodTTD has working proof that its iControlPad is able to control your ranger in quake4iphone, which is an indicator that we're extremely near to a commercial release. The future looks bright for this peripheral - it is pretty much inevitable that most of your favorite ZodTTD apps will be able to be played via tactile controls, and this controller goodness will even spill over to other developers as they learn to take advantage of the easy-to-implement source code. Do you think the iControlPad has the potential to be one of the hottest accessories for the iPod touch and iPhone platforms, or will it be a niche product instead? ...
iPhone Gaming Pad, The iControlpad, Gets The Moving Picture Treatment (video)
GadgetReview —
Remember the iControlpad, the device that essentially turns your iPhone into a full blow gaming machine (I’m exaggerating)? Well, it’s been captured on moving pictures. It looks like it takes some back door software (i.e. hacked) to get it working with the handset and as a result it’s a bit on the laggy side. Unfortunately, there is still no word on an official release date.

But the video above will show you a gamepad that’s actually working when it comes to playing quake4iphone. The iControlPad should have gone into production but nobody announced any prices or arrival dates yet. via YouTube Tags: Apple , games , icontrolpad , iPhone , Mobile News , Portable Devices
iControlPad for iPhone gets a change
The iPhone User Guide —
iControlPad, a physical control pad in the works for the iPhone has received a huge design change according to the creators. In February a test run of the originally designed prototypes shipped.
Feedback suggested that the design work but needed to be altered for each iPhone model, the controls were a bit cramped and the unit was quite large to carry. We were not 100% happy with this. If we are going to do this we want to do it right. As some of you know we have access to the parts used on the openPandora handheld - which has dual analogue nubs.
A sleepless night then resulted a huge design ...
