I was pretty skeptical about Kohjinsha's dual 10.1-incher when I first wrote about it, but it actually looks decently engineered in this video. The second display simply slides out behind the first, like on GScreen's Spacebook and Lenovo's W700. It's slightly thicker than a normal netbook, but the insides are pretty much the same: Windows 7, 1.6GHz AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 processor, maximum 4GB RAM, and 160GB hard disk. How battery life would be affected remains to be seen.

I actually like this idea. Kohjinsha recently showed off its dual-display 10-inch netbook, which runs Windows 7 atop an AMD Athlon NeoMV-40 CPU at 1.6GHz. The machine can be used as a netbook with a standard 10-inch display (it’s a swivel, screen) or a second 10-inch display can be slid out from behind the first to be used together for double the desktop real estate.

When working on a netbook you often run in to the problem of not having enough screen estate. To tackle this problem a company have created a dual-screen netbook that allows you to view two 10.1 inch screens side by side that then slide one behind the other when not needed. By giving you an extra screen you get more screen estate, thus making your work on a netbook a little more productive.
Examples of usage could be putting an Excel spreadsheet on the left screen while taking notes on the right screen, or perhaps browsing on one screen while watching a video on the second.

On vous l’avait présenté rapidement au début du mois d’octobre, ce prototype à 2 écrans 10.1″ de Kohjinsha. Et il faut bien avouer que cet aperçu vidéo de la bête arrive à convaincre. Ne serait-ce parce que les 2 écrans offrent un certain confort visuel rarement vu sur un portable.
Reste maintenant à connaître l’autonomie de la bête. Et là, d’un coup, ça va déjà être moins drôle si vous voulez mon avis…

You may have seen the Kohjinsha dual screen netbook concept floating around the web recently, but apparently they are actually going to be putting this thing on the market. The unit will go on sale as the Kohjinsha DZ, and at first I saw this unit as novel, but after seeing it function on video I realize that this could really be useful for some people out there.
