Nokia unveils E72

Nokia just announced the successor of its best selling Eseries phone, E71. The E72 takes the design cues from its predecessor but includes whole lot of new features in its 10mm chassis that makes the E71 look old. The upped features include a 5-megapixel camera, Optical Navigation key, 3.5mm audio jack, up to 10.2Mbps HSDPA, Lifetime license of Nokia Messaging and Maps Walk while 10 days of trial of turn-by-turn navigation. It also brings in active noise cancellation, digital compass and torch which can be activated by pressing the spacebar key.

The E72 includes everything that was loved about the E71, albeit in a superior fashion. Internet is faster, with support for up to 10.2Mbps over HSDPA. Seems like we only just got the Nokia E71 here in the U.S. Oh wait, that’s because we did. Don’t panic if you bought a Nokia E71x recently, because the new E72 won’t likely be seen until the third quarter of this year — probably later in these parts. So what’s new, besides the model number itself?
It looks like Nokia built upon the very capable E71 and added or improved these features:

Nokia is no stranger to device iterations, and to confirm this they announced the E72, an updated version of their wildly popular E71 smartphone. The E72 features a 10mm thick body, full QWERTY keyboard and HSDPA connectivity. They’ve also tossed in the media friendly 3.5mm headphone jack, bumped the camera to 5 megapixels and included their Optical Navi key for sifting through emails and webpages with the flick of a finger. The E72 will ship in the 3rd quarter and cost $485 sans contract.
