Remember how the "groundbreaking" game Myst for PC was clickfest 1993? It's now going to be tapfest 2009 for your iPhone. From the video, it's pretty much the same game. You go around a pre-rendered world solving puzzles in order to something something something—I never actually finished it. It does look like a pretty decent iPhone game, despite it being older than half the kids in high school right now. How heavy do you think Myst is going to come in at? 100MB? 200MB? [Appvee]

Y’know, I never quite had the patience to chew all the way through Myst’s sequel, Riven, but it was one calming and surreal game. If you never played the original, it’s coming to the iPhone shortly, and developer Cyan has provided a sneak peek. Nevermind that the graphics look like something out of Second Life, the story was solid and it’s a great format for mobile. Easy save points, meandering tempo, and regular breaks all make the Myst games solid choices for mobile. I’d be interested to see if the more graphically-ambitious sequels make it to mobile…

I’ll confess I have never played Myst. But going through the Wikipedia page and learning how successful it was in its times, I thought to give it a try until I knew its download size. Heck, it’s a 727MB download and needs 1.5GB during installation (around 750MB is freed after the installation).
So what does the game bring which is bigger than some of yesteryear’s PC games? The feature list might give a hint:
- All the original Ages & gameplay
- High quality images (better than original Myst)
- Full music & sound effects
- Original movies & animations
