iPhone app will help you deconstruct the Rubix cube

The "CubeCheater" iPhone app allows you to take a picture of your existing puzzle and the application will walk you through the solution to the puzzle. Although we're not sure if we want to encourage cheating here at Make, we like the ingenuity of apps like this that mathematically deconstruct objects in order to find out how they tick.

CubeCheater is an iPhone app that helps you solve the Rubik’s Cube in the fewest moves possible. The first step is to get the cube status into the phone.
This can be done either by taking a digital picture of one face of the Rubik’s Cube or by entering the colors by means of the color palette included with this iPhone app. Using the Kociemba algorithm, this puzzle solving application will work out an easy Rubik’s Cube solution using the least moves possible. In many cases, a scrambled cube can be solved in under 20 moves.

The iPhone never ceases to amaze . This time around, Apple’s wondertoy is busy solving a Rubik’s Cube as seen in the above video. You simply take a picture of your unsolved cube, the software, CubeCheater, analyzes the colors and then gives you step-by-step solutions on how to solve the cube. Quite amazing that you can just whip out a cellphone, take a picture and solve one of the most dynamic puzzles of all time all in a few minutes.
