Toyota has developed a Delivery Robot, especial to aid people with limited mobility, but that doesn’t mean you and I (who can move about freely) cannot avail its benefits. The Delivery Robot is very amicably designed to retrieve items of need and help people with open doors, clearing out trash, making food available etc. for the needy it is a chore done, and for the others like us it is another addition to make lives even lethargic.
The prototype bot manages the chores using laser range finder with which it determines its position and navigates within the confines of the house in real time. Recognizing speech for commands, the ...

Prepping for an entire nation that will soon house possibly the world's largest elderly population, Toyota has unveiled their latest robotic human assist droid called the Delivery Robot. The small robot is a product of Toyota's Partner Robot program, an initiative focused on creating robotic solutions for the disabled.
Using speech recognition, stereo cameras and a laser range finder the Delivery Robot will be used for common tasks like taking out the trash, and opening doors. You can see video highlighting the Delivery Robot's finer points here.
