Hacked Gadgets - DIY Tech Blog —   Based on the White Screen Wiimote hack by Johnny Lee the ECC has developed a very cool way to mashup music at their shows. Thimbles with LEDs in them allow them to press virtual buttons on the huge sound control board. "It’s perfect for our Wheel Of Mashup shows, which depend on an overloaded setup of Ableton Live. Because it’s overloaded, it’s very difficult to mouse quickly and accurately enough to mash things up on the fly. The touchscreen solves that."   Thanks for the tip ...

The Evolution Control Committee In Action
GEARFUSE — Ever heard that song “Rocked By Rape” that’s made up of AC/DC samples and clips of Dan Rather? No? Ok, then go here . Great. So that’s the Evolution Control Committee. They sure do some neat stuff with them there musical instruments. If you watch the above video, you can see how they use a Wiimote to control their mashups when in concert. The setup uses Ableton Live, infrared technology , a touchscreen and a thimble that keeps loops playing. It looks all too fun to pass up. Link [ via ]

MAKE Magazine — The Evolution Control Committee has developed a new interface for music software using 2 Wii remotes and a projector. Input is controlled via infrared LED thimble-gloves against a rear-projection screen.
