Nice One, Microsoft
iPhone Development — Microsoft opened their first Apple Store today. Wait, no. What I mean to say is that Microsoft opened their first Microsoft Store. That's the ticket. And it's very unique. I can't even imagine where they got the idea for the layout, decor, uniforms or grand opening welcome line. I also can't fathom where they got their inspiration for opening a boutique-style retail store in the first place. ...

Microsoft retail opening mimic Apple's
Electronista | The Macintosh News Network — Microsoft today opened its promised first Microsoft Store in Scottsdale, Arizona, marking its first significant effort in retail beyond experiments. The store matches leaked presentations showing a bright, spacious design resembling Apple stores and is now known to more directly imitate Apple in its staff and openings. As shown in an official video (available below), staff wear shirts in Windows-themed colors and, in today's launch, were grouped in lines to cheer the first customers entering the store. The company claims a successful launch with lineups that extended outside of the Fashion Square mall and crowded the store afterwards. The store includes ...

Microsoft Retail Store videos: looks like bizarro Apple Store
9 to 5 Mac - Apple Intelligence — It is really eerie how Microsoft's "copy, copy, copy" philosophy pervades all of their endeavors. Instead of creating a new experience for potential customers, they've put different color shirts on employees and changed the tables slightly from every Apple store you've ever seen.  Videos of Scottsdale Store opening below: As Daring Fireball points out: Creepy. ...

Attack of the iClones: Microsoft Literally Copies the Apple Store
The iPhone Blog — Microsoft has opened their first Microsoft Store, and kudos to them for that. However, we can’t help but feel that by literally copying an Apple Store to the degree that only the signage and products are swapped out, Microsoft cost consumers a chance to experience something different, something innovative, and something that would have continued to push the retail part of the computer and smartphone industry. Same decor, Gurus in lieu of Geniuses, colored shirts, even the same opening festivities. Gruber’s right: It’s creepy, as in like ...

Can You Plagiarize a Store?
Technologizer — The first new Microsoft Store has opened in Scottsdale, and…it looks stunningly like an Apple Store. Same basic layout with computers lining the walls and on tables in the center with software and accessories in the back, same staff in brightly-colored T-shirts, same approach to window dressing. The one distinctive thing I see in the video ...

Welcome to the Microsoft Store
WMExperts — Hey, so what if Microsoft borrowed an idea or two from other successful retailers. These things happen. It's good to see them getting the brand out there. And a Microsoft store is just the way to do it. Commercials are good, but you have to get products in customers' hands. And judging by the reaction the video above, it opening day either was a rousing success, or they were pumping in some good stuff. Any of you guys and gals out there hit up a store yet? Let us know in the comments. ...

Entering the Microsoft Store
pdaBlast! — Microsoft finally decided to copy Apple and open a Microsoft Store. This is something that should have happened a long time ago. What better way to reach the public than to have your own chain of stores? You can't see much in the video besides lots of cheering people, but does it look as cool as the Apple Store? Nope, but what did you expect from Microsoft. They'll get better at it with time, but it's good to see Microsoft moving in the right direction. By finally releasing a stable operating system in Windows 7, and opening a branded store maybe Microsoft is learning some lessons.
